Silent Innocence

unspoken self love

The New Moon in Gemini left a profound reflection in me… I find myself contemplating one of the great gifts of this sign |  the capacity to hold duality through curiosity. Gemini is the child of the cosmos, forever moving between the inner and outer worlds, seeking understanding through observation, dialogue, and reflection.

This reflection emerges from that space.

An event may be examined objectively. Facts may be gathered,t imelines reconstructed, actions analyzed, responsibilities assigned. Yet the deepest consequences of any experience rarely unfold in the visible world. They unfold in the silent chambers of the soul.

As a life coach, I have come to understand that trauma is rarely the event itself. Trauma is the imprint left behind when an experience cannot be adequately processed, witnessed, understood, or integrated. It is the story that settles into the emotional field.

Over the last months, I have found myself returning againand again to a single question: |what happens to the children who never speak?  Not every child has a voice. Not every childfeels safe enough to tell the truth about what hurts. Many learn that silencepreserves belonging. That speaking up risks exclusion. That fitting in is saferthan telling the truth.

Schools are places of education, yet some of the most powerful lessons children learn are not found in text books. They learn them in friendships, in moments of exclusion, and in the way adults respond when something goes wrong.  Children are not only learning mathematics, literature, science, or history. They are learning whether vulnerability is safe. They are learning whether asking for help leads to protection or isolation. They are learning whether their pain matters. These lessons become beliefs, and beliefs become identity.

One of the most painful realities of trauma is that the original wound is often not the deepest wound. The initial event may last minutes. The repeated invalidation that follows can last years. The child whois hurt becomes the child who is questioned. Then doubted. Then isolated. Then begins doubting themselves.  And yet there is another side to the story | the support system. The family member who listens. The teacher who notices. The friend who stays. The therapist who helps transform pain into meaning. These people become mirrors.

Perhaps this is why working with children is one of the most sacred responsibilities we can hold. We are not managing students. We are accompanying souls during their formative years.

As adults, children do not need perfection from us. They need coherence. Coherence between what we say and what we do. Between our values and our actions. Between our promises and our responses when those promises are tested.

Under this Gemini New Moon, I offer these reflections with a simple intention | that a different thought may be conceived. A thought that invites us to become more coherent adults for the children who are becoming.  Because every interaction leaves an imprint.Every response teaches. Every child is quietly constructing their understanding of themselves and the world through the reflections we offer them.

And perhaps the children who never speak are asking us all the same question |

Will someone see me? Will someone hear me? Will someone understand? May we become the kind of adults whose answer is YES.

I see you, YES, I hear YOU, YES, I understand you and YES, you are worthy of all the LOVE.
