Embodied Potential . Concentrate on Essence

There is something about the return from summer that always feels like a quiet turning inward.

Summer has its own invitation to expansion. The sun draws us outward. We travel, we gather, we return to family and friends, we move through different landscapes and rhythms. There is more light, more life outside of us, and somehow we are encouraged to follow it there. We open, we reach, we experience.

And then, almost imperceptibly, the movement changes. We come home. We return to the soil of our own lives, to nourishment, to the body, to the rituals that quietly hold us. What felt expansive begins to settle. Experiences become memories. Encounters become integration. What we have gathered from the outside begins to find its place within.

I have been feeling this movement very deeply this year, both personally and through siendo.  For eight years, siendo has been an extraordinary experience of expansion. It has unfolded layer after layer, revealing possibilities I could not have imagined when the first seed was planted. Practices, offerings, collaborators, relationships, students, clients, patients, teachers and seekers have all become part of its landscape. Each one has brought another expression of what this space could hold.

I think of the Matryoshka dolls. One emerging from another, then another, then another, each containing a world within itself. There is something beautiful about this kind of expansion, because it is not simply about becoming larger. It is about discovering that there was always more within the original seed than we could see.

And yet, every expansion eventually has its return. The dolls begin to nest again. The layers begin to come home. This is where I find myself now.

Perhaps it is no coincidence that this movement has become so clear to me through the Virgo–Pisces axis of my own chart. I have Pisces in my sixth house and Virgo in my twelfth, and I have spent much of my life moving between these two landscapes | the infinite and the embodied, the unseen and the tangible, the mystery of what lies beyond what I can understand and the daily rituals through which I attempt to live what I have discovered there.

The twelfth house has always felt like a vast inner sky to me. It is where so much remains invisible until it is ready to reveal itself. It is the place of dreams, intuition, surrender, spiritual longing and the mysterious potential that exists beyond the boundaries of the known self. With Virgo there, there is also a quiet instinct to discern within that vastness, to find the thread, to separate what is essential from what is simply noise, to listen for the small and precise truth hidden inside something immeasurably large.

And then there is Pisces in my sixth house. The infinite brought down into the rhythm of a human life. The spiritual becoming embodied through practice. The subtle becoming tangible through ritual. The vastness of what we are capable of experiencing meeting the very real requirements of the body: sleep, nourishment, movement, work, health, repetition, rest.  The sixth house reminds us that whatever we discover in the great mystery of existence eventually asks to be lived here. In the body. In our relationships. In the way we spend our mornings. In what we repeat. In what we are able to sustain.

This has become one of the great teachings of my own life | that potential, no matter how vast, needs rhythm in order to become real.

I have always carried a strong impulse toward expansion. I am Sagittarius, after all, and Jupiter has never been particularly interested in keeping things small. There is an instinct in me to explore, to learn, to travel further, to discover what exists beyond the horizon. This impulse has brought extraordinary richness into my life. It has allowed me to follow paths that could not have been mapped beforehand, to keep learning, to remain curious, and to continually meet new expressions of myself.

But perhaps there is another wisdom that arrives after enough horizons have been crossed. There comes a point when expansion no longer asks to become larger. It asks to become deeper. Hi, Scorpio, I see you in my second house, my hidden treasures. This is what the recent lunar eclipse in Pisces has brought into my awareness. Not as an ending in the conventional sense, but as a kind of culmination, a moment when something that has been unfolding over years becomes visible enough to be integrated.

The Pisces–Virgo eclipse story has been illuminating this very axis between the invisible potential we carry and the structures through which we give that potential a life.  And I have felt this personally as a reckoning with sustainability. Not sustainability as a concept, but sustainability as a lived experience. How much can I hold and still remain present? How much can I expand and still remain intimate with my own life? How much of what I have discovered can actually be woven into the rhythm of being a woman, a mother, a partner, a practitioner, a yoga devotee, a plant lover, a seeker of the cosmos? There is no single answer to these questions, because life itself keeps changing the measure. But I have begun to feel that satisfaction is also a form of wisdom. For someone with a Sagittarius nature, this has been a profound realization. There is always another possibility. Another horizon. Another expression waiting to be explored. Jupiter keeps opening the door. And yet, sometimes the most courageous thing is to stand inside the room we have already built and recognize that it is enough.

After eight years, I feel that with siendo.

The dream of creating a multidisciplinary space has been fulfilled. I have witnessed so many different expressions of healing, practice, relationship and community come through this place. I have seen the seed become a living ecosystem. And I feel deeply grateful for that. But I also feel the desire to gather it all back toward the center. Not because the expansion was wrong. Not because the layers need to disappear. But because they have done what they came here to do. They have revealed something. And now I want to listen to what has been revealed.  This is where the movement of the Matryoshka becomes so beautiful to me. The outer layers do not cease to exist when they return inward. They become part of the whole. Everything we have lived remains within us, but it no longer needs to remain separate.

Experiences become wisdom. Relationships become memory. Practices become embodiment. Knowledge becomes knowing. Expansion becomes essence.

Perhaps this is what it means to live cosmically. Not simply to look toward the heavens and recognize ourselves in the movements of the planets, but to allow the sky to become a mirror for the way we inhabit our lives. The great mirror is above us. The smaller mirror is our own body, our own rhythm, our own daily existence. And between them is the practice of living.

Yoga has always taught me this in its simplest form. The practice is not what happens once. It is what we return to. It is the rhythm that creates relationship with ourselves over time. The sacred is not only found in transcendence, but in repetition, in the humble act of meeting the body again, the breath again, the mat again, the morning again.

This is the wisdom I feel myself returning to now. What can I actually sustain with love? What allows me to remain whole? What brings me closer to the essence rather than further away from it? The answer feels less like a decision and more like a settling. A coming home.

After years of expanding the container, I feel ready to inhabit the essence of what I have created, and the essence of who I am. There is something profoundly peaceful about no longer needing to prove how much is possible. I can simply be with what is. And perhaps this is the deeper movement of this season |  not becoming less, but becoming more concentrated. Bringing the layers back toward the center. Letting the experiences of these years settle into the soil. Making room for the simple things that sustain a life.

The body. The breath. The practice. Love. Family. The living world. The mystery. The light.

I don’t know what will expand again in another season. I trust that life will tell me when it is time. For now, I am learning the intelligence of contraction, as a return to life’s rhythm. A return to the essential. A return to the spark from which everything began.

I will follow my lover Rumi on this one … Concentrate on essence. Concentrate on Light.

A reflection for this season

Perhaps some of the questions I have been sitting with may also accompany you through this season |

What has expanded in my life that is now asking to be integrated?

What am I ready to gather back toward the center?

What truly nourishes me, and what can I sustainably tend to with presence?

Where might I be carrying more than is necessary, when what is asking for my attention is simply the essence?

And perhaps the deepest one | what is real for me now?

I would love to hear what these questions awaken in you.

As I move through this season of gathering the layers back toward the center, I want to offer my gratitude to each of you who has been part of this unfolding. Every person, practice, collaboration and encounter has become part of the Matryoshka of these past eight years, each revealing another layer of what siendo could become.

Now, I feel called to gather all that I have learned and lived back into the essence of siendo, to offer from the center of what I have practiced, experienced and gathered along the way.

Thank you for being part of this movement, and for helping me discover, layer by layer, what was always waiting at the center.
