Stay in FLOW | The Equinox . The Scales of DHARMA & the Law of Ma´at

Twice a year, the Earth arrives at a moment of exquisite equilibrium. The Sun crosses the celestial equator, and for a breath, day and night stand almost equal. In the Northern Hemisphere, we begin the descent into autumn. In the Southern Hemisphere, the Earth begins to rise into spring. One hemisphere releases. The other emerges. And yet, both are participating in the same movement of the Earth around the Sun.

This is the mystery of the Equinox | balance does not mean sameness. It means relationship.

And as the Sun enters Libra, the constellation of the Scales, this ancient image of equilibrium becomes our celestial mirror.

Beyond asking to make everything equal , the scales ask us to become conscious of what has weight.

There is an ancient Egyptian image that has always moved me: the weighing of the heart before Ma’at, the goddess and principle of truth, order and cosmic balance. The heart is placed upon one side of the scales, and the feather of Ma’at upon the other. The question is not whether the heart has been perfect. It is whether it can meet truth.

And for me this is where the wisdom of karma enters.

Karma, from the Sanskrit karman, means action. In the Indian philosophical traditions, it speaks to the relationship between action and consequence, the way what we set into motion leaves an imprint that eventually bears its fruit. But karma is only one side of the equation. There is also dharma.

Dharma is that which upholds. It speaks to right order, to the way we participate in the larger web of life, and, in some traditions, to the particular path or responsibility that belongs to us.

If karma asks, What has my action created?

Dharma asks, What is life asking of me now?

One reveals the consequence. The other reveals the alignment.

Perhaps this is why the Equinox feels like such a potent threshold. It is not necessarily a cosmic moment when some external force comes to settle our accounts. It is an invitation to become still enough to feel the scales. To notice where we have been giving beyond our capacity. Where we have been receiving without reciprocity. Where an old pattern continues to create the same consequence. Where something has become too heavy to carry. And where something within us already knows the direction of right relationship.

Karma is the imprint of what has been set in motion. Dharma is the possibility of choosing how we move from here. And somewhere between the two is COHERENCE. The Equinox does not demand that we choose between light and darkness. It reminds us that both belong to the same Earth.

Autumn and spring. Beginning and ending. Giving and receiving. Desire and surrender. Holding and letting go.

The scales are not asking us to control the movement. They are asking us to listen to it.

So as the Sun enters Libra, perhaps we can place our own hearts upon the invisible scales.

Not to judge ourselves. Not to calculate what we deserve. But simply to feel what has weight. What is asking to be released. What is asking to be restored. What is asking to be reciprocated.

And what, beneath all the noise, is quietly calling us back into our DHARMA.

Back into right relationship. Back into the rhythm that was already moving through us.

Because sometimes balance is not something we create. It is something we remember.

We can bring this reflection into something tangible through one of the images from my Guides ORACLE 27 cards.

The image brings together the mineral realm through stones, the vegetal kingdom through plants and essential oils, the realm of imagination through shape and color, and the cosmic realm through planets and lunar phases. Each one speaks its own language, yet all are in relationship.

You might use the image as a yantra for contemplation during these first days of Libra. Simply allow your gaze to rest upon it and notice what awakens.

If a stone in your cabinet calls to you, place it beside you. If an essential oil draws your attention, let its scent accompany your meditation. There is no need to choose according to a prescribed meaning. Let yourself be drawn.

Give yourself 20 minutes around sunrise or sunset or from 11h-13h, breathing, contemplating, and listening for what is seeking greater reciprocity within you.

A stone. A scent. An image. A moment of stillness.

Small reminders that balance is something we enter into relationship with.
