Stay in FLOW | The mind descends into the waters. Mercury In SCORPIO
Mercury has entered Scorpio, and the messenger has descended.
In the myth of Persephone, Hermes is the one who travels into the realm of Hades to bring what has been taken into the underworld back toward the light. He moves between worlds,
the visible and invisible, the conscious and unconscious, the world above and the world below.
This is the territory of Mercury in Scorpio.
The airy, mobile intelligence of Mercury enters the deep waters of Scorpio, and the mind is no longer satisfied with what is visible. It wants to know what lies underneath.
What is the thought beneath the thought? The desire beneath the action? The fear beneath the reaction? The truth beneath the story we have been telling ourselves?
And perhaps this is why the recent Aries Full Moon may have felt so piercing.
Aries asks the most primordial question | Who AM I?
The I of Aries. The identity. The impulse. The fire that says I am.
But when Mars, he traditional ruler of both Aries and Scorpio, carries that question from the fire of Aries into the waters of Scorpio, the inquiry deepens.
Who am I beneath what I do? Do my actions reveal who I am, or am I becoming through the actions I choose? Am I acting from who I truly am, or repeating an identity I have already outgrown?
This is where Mercury in Scorpio begins its work. It takes the questions awakened by Aries and carries them into the deeper waters of the emotional and unconscious self.
And there is another important presence here | Venus. Venus is also in Scorpio, and Mercury will meet Venus in the sign on October 6. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, becomes the mediator between the depths of Scorpio and the grounding of the Earth.
Mind meets heart. Thought meets feeling.
The word meets the place inside us where connection is either restored or broken.
Because what we think matters, but so does what our thinking creates in the heart.
Do our actions bring a deeper sense of coherence? Do they create peace within us? Or are we quietly accumulating resentment, regret, or sorrow toward ourselves?
And this is where we must remember the shadow of Scorpio. Scorpio is powerful because it knows how to penetrate. But that same force can become possessive. It can obsess. It can become attached to what hurts, circling the wound until the wound becomes an identity.
There is a reason the myth of Persephone belongs here. Hades takes Persephone into the underworld and keeps her there. The story carries the archetype of possession, the desire to hold what we fear losing, to make something ours because we cannot tolerate its freedom. And yet Persephone cannot remain there forever.
Because above her, Demeter, the Earth, refuses to stop calling her home.
This is where the polarity of Scorpio and Taurus becomes so important.
Opposite Scorpio is Taurus | the body, the earth, the tangible resources we have cultivated, the simple and enduring things that sustain life.
And Venus, as the ruler of Taurus, reminds us that this grounding is also about relationship | the connection to the resources, values and embodied wisdom that sustain us.
Taurus reminds us to remain loyal to what is already rooted within us.
Our body. Our breath. Our practices. Our values. Our capacity to love. The wisdom we have earned through experience. The resources we have patiently cultivated within ourselves.
When we descend into Scorpio, these are the places we must return to.
Because navigating deep emotional waters requires an anchor. Otherwise, the current can take us into the darker waters of our own resentment, regret and sorrow, into the places where thought becomes obsession and feeling becomes possession.
We need to remember that Taurus does not move quickly. It is like trying to move a bull.
And this is the medicine. To stay. To return. To remain loyal to what is real. To let the body remind the mind what the heart already knows.
Demeter is the Earth remembering Persephone. We are being asked to remember | when we descend into the depths of ourselves, we do not descend empty-handed.
We carry our accumulated resources with us. We carry the body. We carry our practices.
We carry every moment in which we have chosen ourselves with awareness.
And these become the thread that allows us to move through the underworld without becoming lost inside it.
This is the medicine of Mercury in Scorpio | to allow the mind to enter the emotional body and listen without becoming possessed by what it finds there.
Mercury can name what Scorpio has been holding. And once something can be named, it can begin to be understood. Once it is understood, it can be transformed. And once it is transformed, a different way of being becomes possible.
This is the moment the cosmos invites us to live... the deeper movement from Aries to Scorpio | Who am I? becomes What am I BEcoming?
The identity is not only something we declare. It is something we embody through the choices we make, the relationships we cultivate, the words we speak, and the actions we repeat.
✨ So as Mercury travels through Scorpio, look toward the house where Scorpio lives in your natal chart.
What is being brought into consciousness there?
What conversation keeps returning?
What truth are you finally willing to hear?
And most importantly | Is the dialogue between your mind and your heart creating greater coherence between who you are and how you live?
Let the messenger descend.
But remember the Earth beneath your feet.
There is something in the depths that is ready to speak. xx 💜
