The Sovereignty of Yin . Our Holy Tabernacle

As this time of the year approaches, I find myself naturally entering a more introspective space. It marks the closing of my solar return, the final stretch before welcoming my Sagittarius heart back into a new cycle around the Sun. For me, this has always been a moment to look inward, to revisit the experiences that have shaped the past year and to listen to what they have revealed.

Returning to the idea of Yin, I find myself drawn once again to the many archetypal voices that live within us. Our essential nature is never just one thing; it is a constellation of different parts, each carrying its own wisdom, needs, desires and ways of navigating life. Observing these archetypes allows me to recognize which aspects of myself have been leading, which have been asking for attention, and how each has influenced the experiences of this past cycle.

It becomes a way of taking an honest inventory of my inner landscape |

what I am ready to close, what deserves further nourishment, what I wish to carry forward, and what I want to give fire to as I enter the next cycle. This is the place from which this reflection on the sovereignty of Yin archetypes emerges.

There is a rhythm beneath the visible world, the rhythm of being; of tides folding inward, of roots speaking in the dark, of breath drawn before the word. This rhythm is Yin. A permeable and open force that gathers, receives, gestates and remembers. It is the intimate dimension of existence where experience becomes sensation, where sensation becomes memory, and where memory gradually finds its meaning.

As we navigate the depths of Scorpio season, gently approaching the New Moon in this sign of profound transformation, I find myself returning to this contemplation of Yin and the intricate relationship between our inner universe and the world we inhabit.

Scorpio invites us into the mysteries of regeneration, the hidden dimensions of our emotional landscape and the inevitable process of shedding what has reached its natural conclusion. It is a season of descent, where we are invited to look beneath appearances and encounter the forces that quietly shape our experience.

In many ways, this inward movement prepares us for the cosmic horizon of Sagittarius and the upcoming Full Moon in Gemini. Together, this Gemini–Sagittarius axis represents the relationship between duality and integration, perception and understanding, the multiplicity of experience and the search for meaning.

Gemini gathers the fragments of experience, observes, questions, names and gives language to the many dimensions of our reality. Sagittarius seeks the greater meaning within those experiences, looking beyond the individual pieces towards a wider horizon of understanding. One explores the multiplicity of truth; the other seeks the wisdom that can bring those truths into perspective. Between them exists the beautiful tension of knowing and understanding, information and wisdom, perception and conviction.

And perhaps this is precisely where we can begin to understand Yin as a holy tabernacle |

an intimate sanctuary capable of holding the multiplicity of our human experience. It is the inner space where opposing emotions, contradictory desires, memories, instincts and aspirations can coexist long enough to be understood. Yin does not need to eliminate duality, Hello Gemini. It gives us the capacity to contain it, to listen to its different expressions and to recognize the wisdom that emerges through their relationship.

The fire of Sagittarius reminds us that experience is meant to expand our consciousness. Yet, without an intimate space in which to receive and integrate what we experience, we can spend our lives collecting knowledge without ever allowing it to transform us. We may have many answers, but little understanding of what is truly moving within us. We may have direction, ambition and conviction, while remaining disconnected from the inner voice that knows whether that direction is aligned with our nature. Scorpio reminds us that this understanding often requires us to descend into our own waters before we can find the clarity to expand beyond them.

This is why I have become increasingly interested in understanding the different expressions of Yin, and the archetypes through which this force manifests itself throughout our lives.

In Songs to the Moon, an intimate and evolving project I am currently immersed in, I have been exploring these archetypal dimensions as a way of knowing the universe within me. What began as a reflection on the process of becoming a woman has gradually become a much deeper investigation into identity, biology, consciousness and the many voices that shape our experience of BEiing. It has become a personal journey of recognizing the women I have been, the ones I continue to embody and the ones still waiting to find expression.

What I find particularly fascinating is that these archetypes are not simply symbolic representations of womanhood. They are expressions of an inner intelligence that exists in all human beings. Although they are deeply reflected in the biological transitions of a woman's life, their psychological and energetic dimensions are not exclusive to female bodies. Men also experience these movements of innocence, desire, creation, transformation and surrender. The difference lies in how these forces are expressed, cultivated and integrated within each individual.

The sacred feminine does not move in a straight line. It curves, circles and spirals through phases, much like the moon. Each lunar phase offers a symbolic correspondence to a different archetypal expression of Yin, and each one carries a particular quality of consciousness.

In the darkness of the New Moon, we encounter the Maiden. She represents beginnings, curiosity, innocence, exploration and the freedom to imagine possibilities before they have taken form. She is the part of us that remains open to discovery, willing to question what we know and venture into unfamiliar territory. Biologically, her qualities can be explored through the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle, when the development of ovarian follicles and rising estrogen accompany the preparation for ovulation. For many women, this phase can bring a renewed sense of energy and openness, although individual experiences vary. In the broader journey of life, the Maiden is present whenever we begin again, regardless of our age. And as we encounter the New Moon in Scorpio, we are reminded that every beginning also carries the occult and restorative mystery of the unseen process of conception, where something is being prepared in the darkness before it can emerge into form. Take a deep breath and reflect what are you conceiving?

As the moon waxes, the Lover awakens. She is the expression of desire, sensuality, magnetism, pleasure and relational intelligence. She invites us to experience life through the senses, to cultivate intimacy and to participate in the beauty of being alive. Her biological correspondence can be explored through the late follicular phase and the hormonal changes leading towards ovulation, when estrogen rises and libido may increase. Yet the Lover is far more than reproductive fertility. She represents our capacity to be receptive to pleasure, to establish meaningful connections and to express our creative vitality. She lives in anyone who is willing to engage with life through affection, beauty, vulnerability and desire. The grandest creation is SELF LOVE!

At the Full Moon, we encounter the Mother, the archetype of creation, nourishment, protection and embodiment. She is the capacity to give form to what has been conceived, to sustain what is growing and to become a source of nourishment for ourselves and others. Her expression is not restricted to motherhood or biological reproduction. We embody the Mother whenever we care for an idea, cultivate a relationship, nurture a community or take responsibility for something that requires our presence. Biologically, her qualities can be contemplated in relation to ovulation and the transition towards the luteal phase, when progesterone begins to rise following ovulation. The Mother reminds us that beyond inspiration, creation requires the capacity to sustain and nurture what we bring into existence. BE unconditional to your Creation, your Love.

As the moon begins to wane, the Sorceress, or Wild Woman, emerges. She carries the intelligence of discernment, transformation, boundaries and the courage to confront what has become misaligned. She is the part of us that recognizes when something has reached its natural conclusion. Her biological correspondence can be explored through the luteal phase, when progesterone rises and subsequently falls if pregnancy does not occur. Hormonal fluctuations during this phase can influence mood, sleep, sensitivity and energy, although these experiences differ considerably between individuals. Archetypally, the Sorceress invites us to recognize our limits, question our attachments and reclaim the energy we have been giving away. She teaches us that transformation sometimes requires disruption, and that truth can be uncomfortable before it becomes liberating. She is also the one who knows how to navigate the dark waters of Scorpio, understanding that sometimes we must descend into the depths of our own emotional landscape before we can reach the expansive horizons of the Sagittarius fire. Remove fear of distress, we ae changing, embrace YOUR TRUTH.

Finally, as the moon approaches darkness, we enter the domain of the Crone, or Wise Woman. She represents surrender, introspection, discernment, ancestral memory and the wisdom that comes from having lived through many cycles of BEcoming. She understands the necessity of endings and the regenerative power of rest. Her presence is reflected in the menstruating body, when estrogen and progesterone levels fall and the uterine lining is shed. This is a biological process, not a universal prescription for withdrawal or introspection, but it offers a meaningful opportunity to contemplate the relationship between release, renewal and the body's capacity to begin again. The Crone also accompanies us through the later stages of life, when accumulated experience can become a deeper source of perspective and wisdom. SURRENDER, Shed, Become the Whole.

These archetypes are not confined to five distinct moments in a woman's life, nor do they follow a rigid chronological order. They are dimensions of our inner landscape that can become predominant at different stages of our lives, within relationships, creative processes, personal transitions and even within a single day. The lunar cycle provides a symbolic language through which we can observe their movements, while our biological rhythms offer another dimension of understanding. Importantly, the menstrual cycle does not necessarily synchronize with the lunar cycle, and its phases should not be treated as exact biological equivalents of the moon's phases.

The challenge is learning to recognize which voice is speaking within us, what it is asking for and whether we are giving it the space to be heard.

Sometimes the Maiden is longing to explore, while the Mother insists on maintaining what already exists. Sometimes the Lover seeks connection, while the Crone needs solitude. The Sorceress may be demanding change while another part of us clings to familiarity. These internal contradictions can create confusion when we do not recognize the different needs and functions of our inner archetypes.

This is where the relationship between Yin and Yang becomes essential.

Yin provides the intimate intelligence that receives, senses, gestates and gives meaning to experience. Yang provides the capacity to act, direct, organize, protect and bring that inner intelligence into the world. Neither can fulfil its potential in isolation. Yang without the listening intelligence of Yin can become direction without discernment, action without meaning or ambition without intimacy. Yin without the supportive expression of Yang can remain an unexpressed possibility, a voice that is heard internally but never given the conditions to become embodied.

We can see this dynamic in the way we make decisions, establish relationships, pursue ambitions and navigate change, the realm of Scorpio. Sometimes we know exactly what we feel but struggle to give it direction. At other times, we are so committed to a particular direction that we stop listening to what our inner world is communicating. We confuse intuition with indecision, receptivity with passivity, boundaries with rejection and surrender with weakness.

The work is to understand which inner gear is operating, which one is taking the lead, which one has been silenced and which one is influencing our decisions without our awareness.

This is also why I believe the sovereignty of Yin is not achieved by cultivating a single archetype or identifying ourselves with one particular expression of the sacred feminine. It emerges through the harmonization of all these voices. The Maiden needs the wisdom of the Crone. The Lover needs the boundaries of the Sorceress. The Mother needs the freedom of the Maiden. Each one carries a particular intelligence, and each one becomes more fully expressed when the others are acknowledged.

As we move from the inward mysteries of Scorpio towards the expansive fire of Sagittarius, and prepare for the illumination of the Full Moon in Gemini, let's recognize the many voices within us without becoming fragmented by them, and allow our experiences to expand into a more integrated understanding of who we are. Gemini reminds us to listen to the different voices; Sagittarius invites us to discover the wisdom that connects them. The Full Moon illuminates the dialogue between these two dimensions, inviting us to bring awareness to the relationship between what we experience and what we come to understand.

Songs to the Moon continues to be my personal exploration of this very process. It has become a mirror of my own maturation, a way of understanding the universe within me through the many expressions of womanhood, biology, mythology and the cycles of nature. I am discovering that becoming a woman is not simply a passage through biological stages or social identities. It is an ongoing relationship with the many dimensions of myself, learning to recognize, honor and integrate the different voices that accompany me throughout life.

And perhaps this is what it means to thrive as Yin | to become a sanctuary spacious enough to hold our contradictions, intimate enough to hear our deepest instincts and receptive enough to allow experience to transform us. This is why Scorpio season invites us to dare to go IN, to enter our own waters, to encounter what has remained hidden and to recognize the regenerative intelligence that lives within the depths.

To honor Yin is to honor the intelligence of BEcoming. To allow Yang to serve that intelligence with clarity, responsibility and direction. To understand that sovereignty is not found in silencing one voice in favor of another, but in cultivating the coherence through which all our inner dimensions can participate in the expression of our BEeing.

The moon reminds us that wholeness means having the freedom to move through all of our phases and parts. And within that sacred movement, the Yin becomes sovereign.

In the greater language of the cosmos, Sagittarius represents our search for truth, the beliefs that give meaning to our experiences and the vision that guides us towards the future. If we allow ourselves to use the depths of Scorpio to honestly examine the cycle we are closing, to recognize what has transformed us, what no longer reflects our nature and what deserves to be carried forward, we can meet the Sagittarius fire with a renewed sense of truth. A truth that is not simply inherited or intellectually constructed, but one that has been lived, felt, questioned and integrated. And perhaps this is how we begin to thrive in the present moment | by allowing the wisdom of what we have lived to illuminate the direction of what is yet to become.
