For over a decade, Pluto has been transiting my 4th house in Capricorn. It has not been a subtle guest. It has torn apart old notions of home, family, and safety, not to destroy them, but to invite me into the deeper truth beneath their names. Through this transit, I came to understand that becoming the matriarch of my lineage (As the 4th house is the Archetype of the MOTHER) was not about control or containment, but about dissolving the illusion of separation. It was a rite of passage into wise womanhood. As the structures of belonging crumbled, I turned to the plants. In their quiet, fragrant language, they reminded me what it means to belong, to the Earth, to the body, and to the soul of a larger story.
This entry is a weaving of that remembrance.
When we speak of expanding consciousness, we are referring to a movement beyond the rational mind, beyond the neocortex, where logic, language, and linear thinking reside. This part of the brain allows us to organize, interpret, and assign meaning to life’s phenomena. It is essential, yet limited by the patterns and experiences we have accumulated within a specific culture, identity, and lifestyle. To truly expand consciousness, we must access the deeper architecture of the mind, the limbic brain, the seat of memory, emotion, and connection. Here, we begin to soften the boundaries of the self and step into a more relational, sensorial field of perception. The limbic system stores emotional memory and is intimately linked with the amygdala, the region responsible for encoding experiences of trauma, love, and belonging.
Alongside it lives the reptilian brain, our most ancient neural structure, devoted to survival, reflex, and primal instinct. Its role is not growth or transcendence, it is protection. But to enter expanded states of consciousness, all three layers, the neocortex, limbic, and reptilian, must harmonize.
Plant Medicine, through essential oils, herbal allies, and sacred psychoactive plants, becomes a direct and intelligent messenger for this harmonization. The Plant Kingdom communicates through frequency, through biochemistry, and through subtle vibratory intelligence. Aromatherapy, as one of the gentlest pathways, allows plant molecules to enter the bloodstream, cross the blood-brain barrier, and begin the work of integration, of memory, feeling, and embodied presence.
Yet the plants do not only work through chemistry. When we come into relation with them, we awaken the vegetal consciousness within us. Their light speaks to the felt sense, the body’s true language of knowing. Through scent, taste, and touch, we learn to listen again, to feel what safety means, to move from protection into expression, and to remember that curiosity itself is a form of love. This is ancestral healing in motion: reconnecting to the memory of being plant, of belonging to a web that breathes us into coherence.
Just as each planet in our natal chart vibrates at a specific frequency and archetypal tone, each plant carries a unique cosmic code. Some activate the Martial current, igniting strength, action, and transformation. Others open the Venusian field, softening us into harmony, beauty, and connection. And beyond them lie the Plutonian plants, those known as psychoactive or psychedelic, the threshold keepers of the underworld of consciousness. These beings do not merely act upon the nervous system, they reveal the spirit behind the form, inviting us into dialogue with the unseen.
But timing and relationship matter. The Moon’s transits, for example, reflect our internal needs and emotional tides. Aligning our inner rhythm with the greater natural order amplifies the potential for healing and awareness. The plants teach rhythm. They show us that healing is not a single moment of awakening but a cyclical dance of preparation, encounter, and integration. We speak of “integration” often, yet it can easily become abstract, a concept rather than a living act. True integration is action. It is how we re-enter the world after communion, with new eyes, new gestures, and new choices. It is taking advantage of the window of neuroplasticity that opens after transformation, and allowing the nervous system to recode itself toward coherence.
Science tells us we use only a fraction of our brain’s potential. But perhaps it is not the brain that is limited, it is our access. When we harmonize the instinctual, emotional, and rational layers within, and when we work with nature rather than against it, we create the centrifugal force necessary to quantum-leap into new dimensions of perception. This expansion allows us to revisit and rewire memory, not only personal but ancestral and evolutionary. Deep within us lives the memory of being mineral, plant, animal, and beyond. The Plant Kingdom awakens this lineage.
In essence, we do not ingest plants to escape, we commune with them to remember. We remember how to feel, how to listen, how to participate in the great dialogue of life. And in that remembering, consciousness expands, not as an escape from the human experience, but as a full return to coherence: body, mind, heart, and cosmos.
My work with the Plant Kingdom, through herbology, aromatherapy, Bach flowers, and sacred plant medicines, has always been about relationship. It is not only about what the plant can give or what its chemistry can teach, but about what awakens in us when we enter that relationship. Each time we approach a plant with presence, we activate a reflection of the same intelligence within ourselves. This is how the world of feeling becomes the true expansion of consciousness: a language of reciprocity between our breath and theirs, between the human and the vegetal, between remembering and becoming.
